Do You Want To Change The World Right Now?All the talk these days is how messed up the world is. Have you heard?
Crime rates, bad economies, war, poison in the food, bad pharmaceuticals the list goes on and on.
For many people, reflecting on the good ole days is not only common but habitual. What was it that made the good ole days so much better than now?
I'll give you a list of things you can do starting tomorrow that can literally change our world if you implement them. I'd like to see this list get passed around to the 4 corners of the earth. Paradise is not something we have to wait till we die to see, we can have it right here. Ok, here goes.
Tomorrow evening after work, walk next door to your neighbors house and knock on their door. If you know them, just tell them you're stopping by to see how they are doing. If you don't know them, introduce yourself and let them know you're glad to meet them. Why people stopped doing this in our current age is remarkable.
Smile at everyone you see and say good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Very simple stuff here and it costs nothing.
If you see something happening in your neighborhood or out in town that shouldn't be, call the police and report it. It takes 5 minutes and could save someone their property, or maybe even thier life.
Hug your family and tell them you love them every single day. You never know when you'll never see them again, it's important to live without regret.
If you notice your neighbors grass it too tall, don't call the homeowner's association. Instead, bake a pie or a hot meal, knock on their door, ask them if they are ok, feed them, then cut their front yard for them.
Let someone go in front of you in traffic at least once per day. Smile at them as you wave them on.
Be eager to learn about what makes people different and appreciate the fascinating background they have the privilage of sharing. Embrace those differences and realize this is exactly what makes living in the world so exciting.
When you get your pay at the end of the week, hold out 10% and put it into a savings account for your future. Always do this before paying any other bill. Planning for your future is something only you can do.
Give 10% of your pay to someone, something, or some cause that makes the world a better place. This could be a meal to someone homeless, a jacket for that kid who is shivering at the bus stop you pass every morning or a foundation for a wide variety of causes.
Live within your means. Don't charge up credit cards trying to be bigger than you are. The only one that needs to keep score is you, and running up credit puts those points in the bank, not on your leader board.
Spend no less than an hour a day with your children or spouse. This is what life is all about, and it isn't something you do someday when you have the time. Make the time!
Just these simple changes in your life can make a big difference. All of them are easy to do, but most of them are things we aren't doing anymore. If we all started doing them, we could literally change the world.
Don't use excuses like, well I'd do this but my neighbors are hispanic or black or jewish or white. Don't even go there. Don't worry about if your neighbor is gay or straight. Sexual preference only matters if you want to sleep with someone. Christ said, Love Thy Neighbor As Thy Self. He didn't say love thy black neighbor, white neighbor, Christian neighbor, Muslim neighbor, rich neighbor or poor neighbor. He said Love Thy Neighbor As Thy Self. Imagine if we all did simply that? Can anyone of any creed, race, religion, sexual preference, economic status or otherwise dispute the power of it?
There is one race, it's called the human race. There is one world. We all live in it.
There is one you and YOU can make a difference.
Thanks for listening, now get busy, WE HAVE A WORLD TO CHANGE.
